Someone sent you a link for one free copy of phoneset, the app that turns an iPhone into the microphone and headphones of a Windows PC or a Mac, over your own Wi-Fi. Press the button to get your App Store code.

How to redeem

The app is for iPhone and needs iOS 16.4 or later.

1. Open the App Store app and tap your profile picture, or Sign in, at the top.
2. Tap Redeem Gift Card or Code, then type the code or use the camera.
3. Tap Redeem. A code works once, and Apple stops accepting it on the date shown with it.

Apple describes these steps for gift cards and app codes. The wording on screen can differ a little for a code from a developer.

Then set up your PC

phoneset also needs a free program on your Windows PC or Mac. The install steps are one command on Windows, and the support page covers pairing and the virtual audio cable.

What the link sends

The token is the part of the address after the #. A browser never sends that part to a server, so this site and its logs do not see it. It leaves your browser only when you press the button, in one request to the claim server. That server keeps which code went to which link, as a fingerprint of the link. It does not know your name or your email address, and it does not keep them. Like any web request, the request is also visible to Cloudflare, which hosts it.

Do not post the link in a public place: the first person who presses the button gets the code. Opening the link does nothing until the button is pressed, so a mail program that previews links does not use it up.

If something goes wrong

Write to [email protected] and say what the page showed. A link works for seven days. Once you have pressed the button, the same link keeps showing the same code.
